Truist Park
About Truist Park
Truist Park is a baseball stadium located in Atlanta. Opened in 2017, it is the home of the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. The stadium has a seating capacity of around 41,000 and was built to replace the Braves’ former home, Turner Field. Truist Park is part of a larger entertainment district called The Battery Atlanta, which includes restaurants, shops, and hotels. The stadium hosts Major League Baseball games, concerts, and other events throughout the year, and it is known for its modern design and lively atmosphere.
Historical Overview
In 2017, the Atlanta Braves began a new chapter in their history by departing Turner Field for the newly constructed Truist Park. Located in the unincorporated community of Cumberland in Cobb County, Georgia, approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, the stadium was designed by Populous to serve as the anchor for a massive, integrated mixed-use development known as The Battery Atlanta. This project, which includes hotels, offices, residences, and retail spaces, was built to create a year-round destination for fans and visitors alike, marking a significant shift in how professional sports venues are integrated into the surrounding suburban landscape. Originally named SunTrust Park, the venue was rebranded as Truist Park on January 14, 2020, following the merger of SunTrust Banks and BB&T. The stadium was constructed through a public-private partnership, with the project budget totaling approximately $622 million. Since its opening, the park has become a central hub for entertainment in the region, hosting a variety of concerts and community events in addition to its primary role as a Major League Baseball facility. The venue reached a major milestone in 2021 when it hosted games during the Braves' successful run to the World Series championship. Furthermore, the stadium continued to gain national prominence by hosting the MLB All-Star Game in 2025, further cementing its status as a premier destination for professional baseball.
