Last updated: October 2026
Photography is how Stadium Geeks brings venues to life, so we take its sourcing seriously. This page explains where our images come from, how we credit them, and the permissions that apply to photos uploaded by our community — including how to change your mind.
1. How We Source Our Photos
Every image on Stadium Geeks comes from one of three places:
• Openly licensed photos — pictures published under Creative Commons or a similar open licence, used within the terms of that licence. Where the licence requires it, the image carries a credit and a link back to its source page.
• Licensed and bought photos — images we have purchased or licensed from photographers and picture libraries, used within the licence we hold.
• Community photos — pictures uploaded by Stadium Geeks members, covered in Section 4 below.
We do not publish images we cannot account for: if we cannot identify where a photo came from, or cannot confirm that our use of it is permitted, it does not go on the site. If you believe an image is unlicensed or miscredited, see Section 3.
2. Credit and Attribution
We credit the people who take the photographs we use:
• Photos on a venue page, gallery or travel guide carry a credit line, linked to the photographer and source where the licence requires it.
• Where a photographer cannot be identified, we credit the collection or source the image came from.
• Open licences often set conditions on how an image may be used. We check those conditions before publishing and follow them — including taking an image down if it turns out our use does not comply.
• We never claim to own a photograph we do not own. Our own content — text, guides, reviews and site design — remains the property of Stadium Geeks.
3. Corrections and Takedowns
If you own an image, or you believe a credit is wrong or that a licence does not cover our use:
• Tell us which image and which page it appears on — a link is ideal.
• We will correct the credit or remove the image, and confirm back to you what we have done.
• If ownership is genuinely unclear, we will take the image down while we look into it.
Please get in touch through our Contact page and we will deal with it promptly.
4. Photos You Upload
When you upload a photo to Stadium Geeks, the copyright stays with you. You are giving us permission to use your photo — not ownership of it.
The upload form offers two separate permissions, and the choice is yours on each one:
• Usage terms (required in order to upload) — you grant Stadium Geeks a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display your photo on the site, and to resize or crop it to fit our layouts and gallery frames.
• Feature this photo (optional) — you additionally allow us to use the photo in our own promotion, such as homepage features, social media posts and newsletters, with credit to you where we can.
By uploading, you also confirm that:
• The photo is yours, or you have the owner's permission to share it.
• Anyone who can be recognised in the photo has agreed to it being published — including a parent or guardian for anyone under 18.
• The photo is not someone else's work that you have downloaded or copied.
Photos you upload are stored on our image hosting and are given a public web address, so anyone with that link can view the image. They appear on the venue page once our team has approved them.
5. Changing Your Mind: Withdrawing Permission
You can withdraw either permission at any time, for any reason, and you do not have to explain why.
• You must tell us. That is how the withdrawal takes effect — we need to know which photo you mean. A link to the page it appears on, or simply your account email, is enough.
• Once you tell us, we stop using the photo: we remove it from the site and from any future promotion, and confirm back to you what we have done.
• Withdrawal applies from the moment you tell us. It cannot undo what has already happened — for example a social post that others have re-shared — and copies can linger briefly in caches, search results or backups before they clear.
• If we had already used your photo in something printed or distributed before you told us, we may not be able to recall those copies, but we will not use it again.
• You can also ask us to delete photos you have uploaded. We will remove them from the venue page, galleries, your match diary and your profile.
This page works alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
