Lumen Field is a large multi-purpose stadium located in Seattle. Opened in 2002, it is the home of the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League and also the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. The stadium has a seating capacity of around 69,000 for football games and is known for its modern design and passionate fan base. Lumen Field regularly hosts NFL games, MLS matches, concerts, and other large events. The stadium was designed to create a loud atmosphere by directing crowd noise back toward the field. Historical Overview
Rising against the backdrop of downtown Seattle and the waters of Puget Sound, Lumen Field stands as a monument to Pacific Northwest sports culture. The stadium’s origins trace back to a 1997 statewide referendum that approved funding for a new facility to replace the aging Kingdome. Following the demolition of the Kingdome, construction of the new venue began, and it officially opened its gates in 2002 as Seahawks Stadium. Designed by the firm Ellerbe Becket, the open-air facility was built to embrace the local climate and scenic beauty, featuring a signature horseshoe layout that frames views of the city skyline to the north.

Getting There
Lumen Field is located in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle and is easily accessible by car via major highways like I-5 and I-90. Fans can also utilize the extensive network of King County Metro buses or the Sound Transit Link light rail system to reach the stadium. Rideshare services are available, though traffic can be heavy in the immediate vicinity before and after major events.

The Stadium Station is the primary stop for the Sound Transit Link light rail, providing direct access to the venue from various parts of the city and the airport.
