Baseball Ground

The ground was originally built by Sir Francis Ley for the Derby Baseball Club in 1890. Derby County moved in 1895 and stayed for over a century. At its peak, it held over 40,000 spectators. The famous Pop Side terrace was one of the largest standing areas in English football.

The ground was originally built for baseball, not football. The Baseball Stand was the last surviving piece of the original structure before demolition. Derby County won the First Division title twice while playing at the Baseball Ground.
